It's time to create a not to do list to ease the AFC strain

Like many AFC owners, you may feel there’s never enough time in the day.

From administrative tasks to residential care facilities management, filling beds, and ensuring quality care, the to-do list can be overwhelming!

Have you ever wondered how it could be different, how to get your life back from the residential assisted living responsibilities and still make an impact? The good news is you can! It doesn’t have to be that way.

A Not-To-Do list can ease the strain. I challenge you to try a technique to create an adult foster care community you love working in every day. You can also take time off, confident that the team and processes you have in place will allow the AFC home to run smoothly in your absence.

Creating a Not-to-Do List

  • Make a list of every task you do in your business, whether it is daily, weekly or monthly. Big or small, include it.
  • Create your desired Not-To-Do list by identifying the tasks that you could delegate to a particular staff person.
  • Create a plan to train or find the proper candidate for the role.

Sounds simple, right?

“But I can’t afford it”, you say. It’s time to have a team meeting to discuss rearranging roles so you can determine whether it’s necessary to hire new staff.

“But I’ve done that and I need to hire more people!” I encourage you to create a plan to increase income and decrease costs.

“I want to get my life back but I don’t have the time to figure out a plan!” Consider the quote from Albert Einstein, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

No matter what the objection, there’s a roadmap to getting your life back.

Running your assisted living facility can feel difficult at times, but it doesn’t have to. When you create a Not-To-Do list and create a plan to put it into action, you can start getting your life back and love what you do again.
